Delivery
If we are just delivering your shed to you and you are installing it yourself, or have a builder to do it for you, there are a few things that it is important to consider:
- We deliver our buildings on dropside trucks that are a similar size to an Amazon delivery van. We operate two different vehicle types with Nissan Cabstars’ which can go through 6’6″ width restrictions. We also use longer and wider Mercedes Sprinters’ which are ideal for carrying larger sheds. If you live on a particularly narrow road please let us know and we will arrange to use one of our smaller trucks!
- If we are only delivering your shed we offer a kerbside delivery. This means that you would need to have someone there to accept the deliver and carry it through to your garden. Our drivers will usually place the shed in a front garden or on a driveway but it is up to the discretion of the driver.

Our sheds are designed to be assembled by competent DIYers using standard household tools. Every shed is supplied with detailed, step-by-step instructions, and most customers complete their installation in a single day.
Whether you’re replacing an old shed or creating a brand-new garden storage space, our sheds are engineered for straightforward assembly.
Before You Start
Before beginning installation, please ensure you have:
- A solid, level base suitable for your shed.
- Enough working space around the installation area.
- At least two people available for assembly (recommended).
- Dry weather conditions where possible.
Taking time to prepare your base correctly is one of the most important factors in ensuring your shed performs well for years to come.
Tools You’ll Need
Most installations require only basic DIY tools, including:
- Cordless drill with PZ2 bits
- Screwdriver (PZ2)
- Tape measure
- Spirit level – a 1.2m (4′) level works best
- Hammer
- Small Saw – Corner trims may need cutting down.
- Sealant Gun – If you choose to seal the windows with mastic/sealant
- Step Ladder – For felting the roof and for accessing high points of the shed.
- Safety gloves
- Safety glasses
Some sheds shed you will also need:
- 10mm Spanner or Adjustable Spanner

How Long Does Installation Take?
Installation times vary depending on the size of the shed and your level of DIY experience.
As a guide:
- Small sheds: 1–4 hours
- Medium sheds: 2–6 hours
- Large sheds: 3–10 hours
We recommend allowing a full day so you can work without rushing.
Important Installation Tips
- Always assemble your shed on a level foundation.
- Check all components before starting.
- Do not fully tighten fixings until the structure is square.
- Install the roof only after confirming the walls are aligned.
- Anchor your shed securely if recommended for your location or building type.
Safety Information
Please read the assembly instructions fully before starting any work.
Children should be kept away from the work area during installation, and appropriate safety equipment should be worn throughout assembly.
How difficult are the sheds to install?
Like with most things, it depends on your knowledge level. People who are fairly competent at DIY will find assembling our sheds relatively easy.
On some of our shed models like the Security, Heavy Duty and Garage ranges the installations can be a little more complicated so we usually would recommend taking advantage of our installation service. We also recommend our installation service for the Traditional Dutch Barn and our Summerhouses .

Frequently Asked Questions
Can one person build the shed?
Some smaller models can be assembled by one person, but we always recommend two people for faster, safer installation.
Do I need power tools?
A cordless drill is a necessity as most of the shed is screwed together with wood screws.
What kind of base do I need?
As we describe on our Bases page there are a few different options for base types.
We would not recommend using our Bearers and Slabs system as a DIYer. This base type can be very difficult to get right with lots of packing and experience usually required to get it right.
As a DIYer, we recommend your shed should be installed on a flat, solid, level base such as concrete, paving slabs, decking or a plastic grid base.
Can I install the shed in wet weather?
Yes you can if you would like! However we recommend waiting for dry conditions wherever possible to make installation easier and safer.
